Abstract
This panel will explore the strategic integration of adaptive technologies within music therapy practice, focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI), purpose-built applications, and interactive gaming platforms such as Minecraft and Roblox. Our aim is to demonstrate how these innovative tools can significantly enhance therapeutic engagement, personalize interventions, and improve client outcomes across diverse populations.
The discussion will feature a multidisciplinary perspective from our panelists: King Man Chung, a registered music therapist and experienced developer of specialized applications, including a sleep app designed to address anxiety and sleep problems during the pandemic; Lea Cheung, a registered music therapist and educator with experience in AI-driven music creation and its clinical application; and Kiki Cheung, a Computer Science expert in games and cybersecurity, who will share insights into leveraging platforms like Minecraft and Roblox for fostering musical creativity and social interaction in therapeutic settings.
We will cover actionable strategies for utilizing AI to generate adaptive and personalized music experiences, delve into the principles behind designing and implementing apps for targeted therapeutic interventions, and explore the innovative application of interactive games to motivate clients and develop essential social and musical skills. Kingman Chung is a registered music therapist and founder of Music Flow, IMTC, and Hear I Am. He is keen to explore the intersection of music therapy and technology, and enjoys creating accessible tools that support wellbeing across clinical and community settings.
