This delegate workshop is designed to identify and examine future alternatives and to continue our collective conversation about possible models of care and wellbeing support that will respond to the current and growing challenges.

Biography

Greg Scott has led accommodation portfolio development at the University of Canterbury for the past two years, following a career in education management and teaching, focussed on the international and business education sectors. He was previously the General Manager for Industry Development at NZ crown agency Education New Zealand and education sector lead at NZ Trade and Enterprise. Greg has also held roles in the tertiary sector as a Principal Lecturer in accounting, International Dean and Director of one of NZ's leading school international colleges. He is excited by the opportunities to further develop value for the students and the University from a vibrant campus living community, and further enhance the experiences of increasing numbers of international students. Outside of work, Greg is married with three adult children and enjoys exploring beautiful corners of NZ's outdoor environment, travelling to learn more from other cultures, amateur music-making and running as far and fast as possible at his age!

Biography

Jacob Waitere is the General Manager Portfolio at UniLodge in Canterbury. In this role Jacob oversees the delivery for resident services, residential life and overall operations for the portfolio. In addition to this he is a Senior Leader for Residential Life within UniLodge. Throughout his 15+ years of working in Accommodation, Jacob has worked for universities, private operators, and private residential colleges across Aotearoa. Jacob has a bachelor’s degree in Education and English Literature. Jacob is also a chartered manager through the institution of Managers and Leaders, Australia-NZ and a professional member of the Institute of Directors NZ. Jacob is the President of APSAA. Chair of the APSAA NZ Advisory Group, and Global Ambassador for ACUHO-I, having been a past Chair of many other committees and working groups. Before this Jacob served three years as President of NZATEAP. In 2018 Jacob was awarded the Fred Johnson award for Innovation and Excellence in NZ student Accommodation, and in 2022 won the ACUHO-I Roelf Visser award for Global initiatives. Jacob is passionate about indigenous student support, sustainability and operational effectiveness.
