After an intern year at Box Hill Hospital and then working at the Royal Women's hospital in Neonatology for a year, Dr Cowell commenced her postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at The Royal Women's Hospital in 2000. Her training included time at The Geelong and Northern Hospitals and was completed at the Mercy Hospital for Women where she was appointed as a consultant Obstetrician on completion. Her final 12 months of training involved a fellowship year in Infertility. Dr Cowell spent ten years at the Mercy where she loved the complexity of high risk cases as well as the teaching and mentoring roles. Dr Cowell is currently engaged in training the next generation of medical students from Melbourne University. Fiona attends conferences and seminars regularly to remain up to date with the latest research both in Australia and overseas.
