Biography
Emily is a senior clinical dietitian working at Fiona Stanley Hospital who is passionate about empowering patients to understand and manage their health conditions. After graduating from Flinders University in South Australia she worked in the Northern Territory visiting remote communities and working in Alice Springs Hospital. She learnt that understanding the patient and telling a health story that the patient connects to is key to providing dietetic education. She has also worked in rural WA and completed a Masters in Dietetics at Curtin University focusing on chronic disease self management. More recently she has worked in an acute clinical setting at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital. She enjoys applying the principles of patient self management and health story telling in a tertiary hospital environment. Her current work is in gastroenterology and focusses on supporting patients with inflammatory bowels disease and liver disease. Her hobbies include reading, spending time in nature and finding innovative ways to get her children to eat vegetables.
