Effective Communication – How to have difficult conversations

Biography

Eithne is Nurse Co-Director in the Speciality and Ambulatory Service Division at Sir Charles Gairdner Osborne Park Hospital Care Group (SCGOPHCG). Eithne qualified in general nursing and completed a post graduate in midwifery. She holds a PG certificate in Diabetes Education and Master of Health Management. She has worked in the hospital setting as well as in the Department of Justice Health Services in a variety of roles including clinical, staff development, diabetes education, chronic disease management, clinical governance and senior management positions. Eithne recognises that staff are the most valuable resource in any healthcare organisation and it is critical to the success of the organisation that the nursing staff feel valued, supported and appreciated. In an age where the risk of burnout and compassion fatigue is very real in nursing globally, Eithne believes that to attract and retain nurses, it is vital for nursing leadership to acknowledge and message to the nursing workforce that they are appreciated and valued as the biggest asset in achieving sustainable healthcare delivery.
