Paula Brayford is an Advance Nurse Practitioner in Gastroenterology and has been a nurse/clinical endoscopist for over 20 years. She works at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust in the UK and is a senior member of their large clinical endoscopist team. As well as upper and lower endoscopy (including TNE and PEG insertions) her role also involves Cytosponge, service development, endoscopy training and she is a non-medical prescriber. Previously she has also worked as a Colorectal and Stoma Care Nurse Specialist, recognised as the National Colorectal Nurse Specialist of the year in 2015. She completed an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice in 2021 and her dissertation research focused on the training required to enable clinical endoscopists to advance to become accredited as Bowel Cancer Screening Endoscopist. She has recently been elected to join the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) Oesophageal Committee and the BSG Nurses Association. She has a particular interest in Barrett's surveillance and enhancing the patient experience.
