Biography

Sue is a dedicated professional with relatively recent experience in the field of Hepatology nursing. She has been a valued Clinical Nurse Specialist in Hepatology at Dunedin Hospital since 2021, and her journey in healthcare is marked by a commitment to excellence. After earning her Comprehensive Registered Nurse qualification in 1988, Sue pursued further post-grad education, achieving a Master's in Health Science in Clinical Nursing. Her versatile career has encompassed diverse areas of nursing, including paediatrics, Day Surgery recovery, district nursing, and practice nursing. Along the way, Sue embraced opportunities to expand her horizons, serving as the Southern Regional Health Advisor for the Ministry of Social Development and excelling as a quality manager at APM Workcare. In 2020, Sue decided to return to her passion for nursing specialty and joined the gastroenterology unit, coinciding with the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in New Zealand. At the upcoming conference, Sue proudly represents the NZNO Gastroenterology Nurses, Hepatology sub-group. Her presentation will provide an overview on the dynamic landscape of Hepatology nursing within the context of New Zealand, reflecting her experience and dedication to the field.
