Biography
Dr Andrew Palmer studied medicine at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, graduating with commendation. Andrew is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, with advanced training undertaken in Brisbane at the Mater Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital.
He currently has a part-time appointment in gastroenterology & hepatology and addiction medicine as a Staff Specialist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Andrew is interested in the role of gut microbiome in gastrointestinal disease and is undertaking a PhD through the University of Queensland in this area.
Andrew is committed to quality endoscopy and has previously published work in the fields of gastric, oesophageal and colorectal cancer, and on the endoscopic management of upper gastrointestinal bleeding.
Dr Palmer will be working in Cairns on a permanent part-time basis several days a month through Cairns Gastroenterology.
