9:00 AM - 9:30 AMBiography
Qualifications - BM. BS University of Nottingham 1996, Member of Royal College of Paediatrics (UK) 1999, Fellow of Royal College of Emergency Medicine (UK) 2009 with Sub-specialty interest in Paediatric Emergency Medicine, and Fellow of Australasian College of Emergency Medicine 2012.
Simon trained in the UK at the University of Nottingham, was an Emergency medicine trainee in the Southwest of England and an ED Consultant in regency Cheltenham for three years before moving to Australia in 2012. He settled in Wollongong on the beautiful NSW South coast. He has a keen interest in medical education and simulation. He was formally the Director of Emergency Training at Wollongong supervising 20 EM trainees. He directs Advanced Life Support and Advanced Paediatric Life Support courses. He is the current Head of Department in Emergency at Wollongong. His clinical passion is Paediatric Emergency Medicine which he sees as the last bastion of clinical diagnosis rather than leaning on investigations. He has presented at national and international conferences and is the Chair of the organising committee for the ACEM endorsed conference “Evidence Review in Emergency Medicine.” He is ranked 13th in the Illawarra Shoalhaven in Men’s squash and coaches his son’s soccer team. Unfortunately, he is too old and scared to learn to surf.
