Emergency Nurses using science to save lives
4:30 PM - 5:00 PMAbstract
The opening of this year’s 21st International Conference for Emergency Nurses falls on October 16 which is World Restart a Heart Day. World Restart A Heart Day is a global initiative to raise awareness about the importance of bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillation in saving lives ….. two hands can save a life. As emergency nurses, we clearly have a critical role in resuscitation and post-resuscitation care in the emergency department as well as promoting the importance of CPR in the communities in which we live, work, learn and play. In this session, an overview of the current evidence related to resuscitation and post-resuscitation care will be presented, with a specific lens on the role of nurses and specifically emergency nurses. Current controversies and debates will be highlighted and how emergency nurses navigate clinical uncertainty in a time-critical context will be discussed.
