Working in the space in-between

1:30 PM - 2:30 PM

Abstract

Liminal space – the in-between space. Critical to Musicians: important for Architects; and where Nurses, Doctors, Patients and fraught Families meet and work. The Emergency Department is the space between home and hospital; between scared and safe; between not knowing and answers (good and bad). It is the smallest space between people of different disciplines, working as one. In this paper we will explore liminal spaces and the meanings for patients and Emergency Department staff.
