Co-Designed Emergency Nursing Leadership Program: A Collaborative Approach
11:30 AM - 11:50 AMAbstract
Alfred Emergency Academic Centre (AEAC), in collaboration with the Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DHAD), developed a partnership to address the need for skilled emergency nurse leaders in Abu Dhabi. This collaboration led to the development of a tailored Emergency Nursing Leadership Program designed to enhance local capacities and capabilities, empowering the current workforce to assume senior, complex leadership roles. The program was crafted to develop contemporary nursing leaders skilled in fostering workforce resilience and retention; enabling world-leading patient care. Key themes included fundamental principles of leadership/followership, project management, sustainability, evidence-based nursing, human performance, communication, and change management. Participants were equipped with tools to lead operationally and strategically, thereby elevating service delivery standards and nurturing a culture of excellence in patient care. Utilising a hybrid delivery model of virtual tutorials, self-directed online learning, and in-person intensive workshop, the program ensured accessibility and inclusivity, catering to the diverse learning needs of current and emerging nurse leaders. This presentation will explore the comprehensive co-design process, from initial environmental scans to program implementation and evaluation. Emphasising the program's agility, particular attention was given to scalability and replicability across various nursing domains. The program's dynamic nature allows adaptation to the evolving healthcare landscape, and it is highly generalisable for other nursing specialties. Partnership and program evaluation were integral components of this collaboration, ensuring robust governance over both program delivery and the partnership model. Using validated partnership tools, ongoing assessment and refinement of the AEAC/DHAD partnership ensured agility and the ability to meet the specific needs of the sector, nurturing proficient nursing leaders poised to shape the future of emergency nursing in Abu Dhabi.
