From Overwhelmed to Opportunity: The Nurse Practitioner Model Bridging the Rural Care Gap.
1:35 PM - 1:55 PMBiography
Caroline Dower is a dedicated member of her rural community and a committed healthcare professional on the path to becoming a Nurse Practitioner. Her journey into advanced practice nursing is driven by a deep commitment to improving health outcomes for her community. Witnessing a significant rise in emergency department visits for conditions that could be managed through primary care, Caroline recognized the growing need for alternatives in health care options to the current medical model. This insight fuelled her decision to pursue her masters in Nurse Practitioner and has fostered a network of like-minded peers across the Limestone Coast. Caroline brings both compassion and a strong sense of responsibility to her work, aiming to bridge the gap between acute and primary care in rural settings. Her goal is to enhance preventative care access, reduce unnecessary hospital visits, and contribute meaningfully to the long-term health of her community.
