Biography

Helen Hamersley is a Clinical Nurse Manager in the Centre for Clinical Research in Emergency Medicine at Royal Perth Hospital Emergency Department. Helen completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Curtin University, followed by her Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Epidemiology through the University of Newcastle. Helen has worked in an Emergency Department for 20 years, in both a metropolitan and rural setting and has experienced first hand the violence and aggression that has become common place in an Emergency Care setting. Helen jumped at the chance to be involved in the WA Model for Violence Prevention Pilot. The Mental Health Commission and East Metropolitan Health Service have partnered for this pilot with an aim to develop a violence prevention model that will reduce alcohol related presentations to RPH ED and impact on community safety.
