Top of Scope - Applying transferable Emergency Skills in remote practice contexts
2:00 PM - 2:20 PMBiography
Sharyn is the Director of Nursing for Nursing / Midwifery Workforce, Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service. Sharyn has the motto “don’t get stuck!”. Nurses and Midwives have a fabulous set of foundational skills where they can be used across a variety of settings - we can build and grow with these skills and branch out into a whole plethora of areas!
Sharyn has worked for TCHHS for the past 7 years and has worked in a variety of roles within TCHHS in that time. Sharyn has a commitment to working with nurses and midwives to recognise transferable skills to assist with the transition into the rural and remote setting. Having skilled nurses and midwives who work in the remote and isolated practice setting not only provides for skilled care but also builds a reciprocal relationship with the communities where we learn and grow as well. Partnering with the Indigenous Health worker Workforce is key to building these relationships.
