Dr Hughes is a Senior Research Fellow and Postgraduate Course Coordinator in the School of Nursing at QUT and the Redcliffe Hospital. He has over 20 years of clinical, academic and research experience in emergency nursing. His research interests include the treatment of pain in adults within the emergency department, opioid stewardship and the use of artificial intelligence in research in emergency settings.
