Melissa Heufel is an End of Life Care Clinical Nurse Consultant and Emergency Nurse with the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District and a PhD candidate with the University of Sydney. She is passionate about improving the quality, timeliness, and compassion of care for patients presenting at the end of life in the ED and in acute settings. Her research focuses on identifying gaps, barriers, and opportunities to better integrate end of life care into fast-paced emergency environments. Alongside her academic work, she is committed to education, mentorship, and service development, empowering clinicians to deliver person-centred, dignified end of life care.
