The Ultrasound-Guided Peripheral Intravenous Cannula Workshop aims to provide emergency nursing professionals with an in-depth understanding of the latest techniques and best practices in ultrasound-guided vascular access. Led by an experienced instructor, this workshop will cover essential theoretical concepts, followed by practical, real-time demonstrations and practice sessions.
The aims of the workshop include:
• Understanding ultrasound concepts
• Understanding the anatomy and physiology of the upper limb vasculature
• Identify the different options for Difficult Intravenous Access (DIVA) patients
• Practice holding and moving an ultrasound probe
• Practice finding veins and arteries of different depths and sizes

Biography
Shirene Mattaboni is a vascular access clinician who is passionate about vessel health and preservation. Shirene completed her studies at Edith Cowan University and has since spent over a decade working in tertiary facilities in Perth, splitting her time between the specialties of vascular access and emergency. Shirene is now based at Royal Perth Hospital as the clinical nurse specialist of the newly formed Vascular Access Team.
