Digital simulation for health professional education and practice. Present opportunities and what the future holds

3:30 PM - 4:10 PM

Abstract

Digital simulation refers to the emulation of real-world processes or systems using computer-based models that can be represented virtually. Digital simulation is being increasingly utilised in health professional education and training, offering a range of advantages over traditional methods through its ability to provide realistic, interactive and immersive experiential learning experiences otherwise challenging to replicate.

The Edith Cowan University Simulation and Immersive Digital Technology Group operates at the forefront of digital simulation proficiencies, working on research and development projects formulating novel use cases and applications for digital simulation education and capability advancement across Health, Defence, Child and Secondary Education, Vocational Training, Emergency Services and Elite Sport.

This presentation will present key opportunities for engagement with digital simulation for education, training and practice in emergency healthcare now, as well as present trends and forecasting of technological advancements and capabilities into the future.
