Emergency Triage Education Kit (ETEK)

3:30 PM - 4:00 PM

Abstract

The national project to review and update the Emergency Triage Education Kit (ETEK) is almost complete. This presentation will outline the process, who has been involved, the main changes to the ETEK and what comes next.
Key information drawn from the needs analysis which informed the project will be presented, including an overview of the feedback and advice received from CENA members and ED clinicians through the 1230 responses to the project survey conducted in December 2022.
A multi-faceted approach is required to support triage nurses to provide consistently safe, high-quality triage and care. To ensure effective collaboration, this project has involved significant consultation and engagement with clinicians, consumers, academia and state and territory representatives to identify the education requirements which inform the ETEK content development.
The process of reviewing the ETEK has identified and prompted great examples of practical actions to support safe and high-quality triage being undertaken by states and territories across Australia. A number of these will be highlighted for ICEN delegates.
