The 'ins and outs' of detecting and treating accommodative dysfunction with orthoptics
Abstract
This presentation will discuss commonly overlooked accommodative disorders which have potential to cause significant asthenopic symptoms. Case studies will be used to explore how accommodative insufficiency, infacility and spasm can be easily suspected, detected and diagnosed with an orthoptic binocular vision assessment. We will discuss the importance of appropriate glasses correction and the use of orthoptic exercises to improve binocular vision and reduce asthenopic symptoms caused by these accommodative disorders.
