Fusional Vergence Amplitudes - the new (old) frontier

Abstract

The assessment of the binocular vision system isn't complete without a thorough measurement of fusional reserves at both near and distance fixation. This paper will explore the importance of fusional amplitudes, and their application to better understand a persons binocular strength.

Case studies will be looked at to support the value in assessing vergence amplitudes. Improving binocular control with orthoptic exercises aimed at increasing vergence amplitudes helps to reduce asthenopic symptoms and better control intermittent strabismus.
