A/Professor Cecilia Sjoblom is the Chair of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) at the University of Sydney, where her role involves advancing teaching and research into infertility and reproductive endocrinology as part of the Reproduction and Perinatal Centre (the RPC). Cecilia is also the Scientific Director, Westmead Fertility Centre (WFC), where she has spearheaded WFC to one of Australia’s leading IVF centres. With 29 years of experience in the field of assisted reproductive technology (ART), Cecilia holds her PhD in early human embryo development. Her research into cytokines and growth factors as regulators of embryonic growth has been translated into clinical practice through patented technology. In 1997, Cecilia pioneered the introduction of quality management in ART and with her considerable expertise and knowledge, she is frequently called on to help advance laboratory processes and quality management systems resulting in improved success rates of fertility clinics around the world.
