Anaphylaxis: Physiology and treatment

Abstract

Anaphylaxis is a true emergency that requires quick thinking and treatment. This lecture will explain the basics of anaphylaxis and how these deadly reactions occur. Utilizing real case studies, treatment and nursing care will be discussed in detail, as well as complications that can occur with these cases.

Biography

Tami Lind is the current Intermediate Care Supervisor at Purdue University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. She has previously been the ICU and ER supervisor for 15 years. Tami went to veterinary technology school at Purdue and graduated in 2010 with her Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology. Tami started as a veterinary technician in the ICU and has been a supervisor at Purdue since 2012. She received her VTS in ECC in 2016 and the Purdue Veterinary Technician Outstanding Teaching Award in 2017. She enjoys teaching new veterinary technicians and veterinary students to prepare them for their career ahead. In her spare time she enjoys hanging out with her German Shorthaired Pointers, mixed up mutt, cats, her 27 chickens, 4 ducks, 5 goats, and her two legged husband.
