VNCA Breakfast Session - Regulation of veterinary nurses and technologists: Update and discussion forum

Abstract

Join representatives of The Regulation of Veterinary Nurses and Technologists Working Party for an interactive breakfast session exploring the current progress and future direction of veterinary nurse and technologist regulation in Australia. This session will provide an update on national and state-level initiatives and recent advocacy efforts. Attendees will have the opportunity to share perspectives, ask questions, and contribute to an open discussion on the practical and professional implications of regulatory change. Ideal for veterinary nurses, technologists, and practice leaders seeking to stay informed and engaged in shaping the profession’s future.

Biography

Jasmine gained a passion for veterinary nursing working as a Junior Veterinary Assistant while still at school on the mid north coast of NSW. Over the last 25 years she has worked in small animal specialist medicine practice at Sydney University, and small animal general practice in both nursing and management capacities. With a range of experience across referral and general practice, Jasmine has delivered many lectures and workshops both throughout Australia and internationally with an emphasis on clinical veterinary nursing skills and knowledge. Jasmine has also been published in the Australian Veterinary Nurses Journal, and contributed to the ASAV Standards of Care – Anaesthesia Guidelines for Dogs and Cats. Jasmine completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2002. She obtained and has maintained accreditation through the VNCA since January 2006, gained a Diploma in Critical Care and Emergency Nursing in 2007 and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment in 2011. Jasmine has been a training consultant with Animal Industries Resource Centre/Crampton Consulting Group for 20 years. Jasmine has volunteered for the Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia since 2008, including 7 years on the VNCA Board of Directors with 2 years as Vice President and 2 years as President. She remains chair of the professional advancement committee and is a representative on Regulation of Veterinary Nurses and Technologists Working Party
